"Our Extremity, God's Oppotunity"

Dear Friends,

Well of course. Due to technical reasons beyond our control, I have not been able to send my weekly newsletter for several months and I am sorry about that. Now that things at command central have been fixed, I can continue my musings from the field here in Southeast Asia.

I realize that many people around the world have been hit by the economic crisis and perhaps you know of somebody who has been effected by it as well. We hear daily reports of job and housing loss and many families everyday sink lower and lower as their debts and troubles rise higher and higher.

Come to think about it, this is no news in a poor country like the Philippines where families regularly face very traumatic situations on almost a daily basis. Case in point. Just last week a young mother came to our CAP House ministry for Families by telling us that she was not able to work. After giving birth at home, her womb had not mended correctly and now was hurting her so much she could not work.

Her husband had also been layed off since November and they had three young children to feed. They were behind on their rent four months and the landlady was trying to get them out of the small bamboo rental. Huhuhu, what to do.

Well, one of our friends has a large open land and rents space there for people to put up their own house for $4.00 a month. We had some extra metal sheeting for the roof and they will be able to build a simple house for $35 and move into it in two days. After they are settled there, we will try to help the husband find a job and get the diagnostics done so we can get her well.

I wish that all the problems facing our families could be solved with under $40!!!!! You know, I really did not want to get involved with this problem. It seemed insurmountable. ut because of God’s goodness and graciousness, a way was made for His blessing to be realized.

Yes we may be poor, but God is still rich. We may have problems, but there are no problems God cannot solve. Yes, we may not know what to do, but God always knows what do. Let us renew our commitment to Ask, Seek and Knock at the door of Infinite wisdom, love and resources. Our extremity is God’s opportunity. Perhaps the Lord at times takes His material blessings away so He can shower us with showers of His spiritual blessings.

Later this afternoon I run off to Indonesia for 12 days where I will be island hoping speaking at several different places. Will give a report back in two weeks. Until then, get closer to the Lord and closer to one another.
